This 39' Single Dome Tank Car is painted black with white lettering.  The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was chartered on March 8, 1827 and formally it was incorporated on April 24, 1827.  The oldest Class-1 Railroad in the United States.  It was immediately handed the task of setting up a line from the Port of Baltimore west to a suitable Port on the Ohio River.  This line was intended not only to provide an alternative method of shipping , but to do it faster, than the 7 year old hugely successful Erie Canal.  The B&O effort was successful and this originating line started the legacy of this great railroad.  The B&O now is part of the CSX Transportation System.
