This 40' Standard Box Car with Single Door is painted bright aluminum with dark blue lettering.  With America's zeal after the Victory of the World War II, Baltimore & Ohio was one of several railroads that began painting box cars, like this one, in colorful schemes to attract the booming level of business of shippers.  The icon on the right side of the car indicates that this car formed part of the B&O's "Sentinel Service".  This system involved the new teletype supervision of car loads from siding to siding rather than just from terminal to terminal.
